Edmonton Based Night Nursing Services

A night nurse is a unique healthcare practitioner specifically trained to ease new parents into their new routine, usually within the first six weeks of bringing a newborn home.

The general scope of a night nurse service involves both emotional and practical support to new parents while caring for newborns. We help provide birthing person support as well.

What does this look like?

Night nurses either provide in-home services for a specified number of days throughout the week, usually between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:00 am. While you’re awake, your night nurse can provide services such as emotional coaching and infant care lessons. As per your request, we do maternal/birthing person assessments.

When you’ve gone to bed, your night nurse will look after your baby and ensure all of their needs (feeding, changing, and swaddling) are met.

Another option for night nursing is on-demand virtual services. This means that while no one comes into the home, you have access to educational services and advice - just a click or phone call away.

NightOwl Nursing services are suitable for all family structures in all walks of life. Our services include parents who have experienced a vaginal birth or Caesarean section, adoptive parents, single parents, and everything in between!

Our process:

It’s normal to feel alone and confused while trying to establish a solid sleep and feeding schedule while still taking time for yourself.

Rest, recovery, and relaxation are key when it comes to acclimating to your new lifestyle. That’s where the NightOwl Nursing team comes in.

We start by scheduling a consultation and a home visit to ensure we know exactly what you and your baby need and to ensure you have everything you need in the home for infant care. From there, we either schedule virtual or in-person shifts throughout the week.

We provide in-home overnight care or on-demand virtual support to new parents in Edmonton. Our in-home nurses are healthcare professionals with Registered Nurse certifications in good standing and who also meet our meticulous standards for infant and maternal care.

Our staff also share our compassionate nature, as it’s vital to not only successfully adjust parent and baby, but also the entire family.
