For Nurses

Are you looking for a new and exciting career opportunity?

The general scope of a night nurse service involves both emotional and practical support to new parents while caring for newborns.

Introduction to Nightowl Nursing Services for Nursing Professionals

“Nightowl Nursing was founded on the principle that professional postpartum care should be available to all new parents as they transition into their evolved roles. Parenthood is an exciting time but can also be challenging. We want to provide relief during these early stages.

By providing expert advice on issues such as breastfeeding, providing the peace of mind that medical knowledge is close at hand, or allowing recovering mothers, fathers or birthing persons to rest; we can empower the new parents so they can better use evidence-based knowledge in making the best decisions for their newborn as well as themselves.

While there are plenty of prenatal resources and classes available, postnatal support and education in Canada are severely limited. A lot of emphasis is placed on labour and delivery but in comparison, there is not enough preparedness to transition into parenthood. Many may simply not be mentally ready for problems such as sleeplessness, changes in the relationship dynamics, or libido fluctuations. In addition, nearly all courses are focused on the mothers or the birthing person, leaving fathers in the dark with even less understanding.

But having an educated support individual in the home may alleviate most if not all of these headaches. An extra body will help to optimize the quality time with your newborn(s), work out the kinks as they occur without needing to hunt for answers yourself, and provide reassurance that the hiccups are a normal part of the process.”
